Ramiro Govea
Biography
He was born in Michoacan, Mexico and arrived in Merced in 1979 when he was only 7 years old. He attended the local schools and graduated from Merced High School in 1990. While he attended Merced High, he was enrolled in Mr. Schroeder’s and Mr. Weaver’s automotive class. He was placed at Rich’s Auto Body and was then hired at the end of the program. He spent 12 years working at that site. Mr. Govea teaches Career Planning for Granada and Le Grand High Schools. He has now taught for 4 years and also works with the Youth Opportunity Program. He enjoys working with the teenagers in the Le Grand and Planada community. Ramiro is married and has 2 daughters. He enjoys sports and loves watching the Oakland Raiders play. He enjoys the outdoors and travels out of Merced when he has the opportunity to do so. He also spends his free time with his family and plays softball in Atwater with a team that is made up of family members.
